I use the toothbrush style and trim them a bit, parallel with the hook shank, and do very well. I used a lot of 1/4oz on braid along river channel trees and only lost a jig when it got wedged or wrapped in other lines. The thump with a jig that big will have you losing sleep dreaming of the trip.

I would definitely go with the sliders and the weed less jig heads for them! I've been pulling fish out of brush with these for years now! I'll also just rig my plastic weed less on whatever I'm using at the time I pass a tree top and that works too........ never get mad about getting hung up on brush! That's where the fish are....

For me, a CB slider head with his grub, BGBS, Stinger Shad, Crappie Kicker, Muddy Water, or 2" curly tail all rigged weedless. Sometimes will take a tube and rig it Texas-style on a regular jig head when in thicker stuff. The CB Slider head I use everywhere, cover or not. I've never added fixed weed-guard jigs to the arsenal, not oppossed to them, just went this way instead.
