Default Chickamauga Lake Crappie report 4/21/2017

Mr S joined me for a short scouting and little fishing trip this AM. He joined up around 10 and a storm ran us off the water at 12:15, so not much to report. The intent for me was to find some brush piles that I had marked on my HDS 5 Lowrance unit and waypoint the spots on the Helix 7. That mission was accomplished.

The weather men must have it made. They can get the forecast wrong everyday and still draw a paycheck. The weather channel report for today in our area was for 1 mph winds until 11, then it increased to 3 and up to 6 by 1:00 pm. It was above 6 when I put in this morning. It increased to almost the whitecapping point when the storms arrived. These guys must have been used car salesmen in their earlier life. Or lawyers.

I did manage to catch 3 keeper crappie off one brushpile and a spotted bass on another structure. Everything caught on Bass Assassin Dappers and Pro Tiny 2" shads. Chicken on a Chain was best color today. Water temp was 72.2 degrees.

I don't like the way that the pics are turned upside down and sideways. Other forums have my pics straight and I don't have to do anything to straighten them out. I do turn my camera sideways and it still comes out wrong.

Be careful using straight weather channel forecasts/apps. It's usually limited to one computer model output in order to keep it simple. Best thing is try and learn to read the different computer models yourself. Short of that our local NWS offices usually do a great job. Check their discussions and forecasts as they usually update them multiple times thru the day.

You've been having a heck of a time with your pics lately Dickey. I've got a "crick" in my neck now from reading your reports this past week. Thanks for sharing though.
