    Yes I bent them out
    They're just #4 hooks
    I don't think they're big enough so to increase hook up chances I bent them

    I use lots of #4 sickle hooks and have never had any issues hooking fish. I'd think it would be easier for a crappie to get off once hooked with them bent out.

    No 4 just seems small to me

    Those look great! I knew an older man that would re-bend his hooks as well. I personally don't care for that for my style of fishing. He told me about the Eagle Claw 571 short shank which comes in two sizes. 1 and 1/0. I have enjoyed those hooks with much success. Definitely the most popular these days is a sickle hook, but the 571 gives you a bigger bite without adding length. Just a thought.
