Look out! I bought a 7 ft Denali at the grizzly show and it broke for no apparent reason about a foot from the tip. I bought it because it was white and I can see white so much better. After it broke I came home and painted my 7 foot southern rod white. I've had it for almost 2 years and use it for bass, crappie and catfishing the rock walls at Pickwick during the spawn and never a problem. Wish I could find my receipt for the Denali. Plus I kinda stomped on the handle a little when it broke! Seems awful tender to me!

The only reason I bought em is because every guide I've talked to that used them loves em. They'll have to be a super rod to outdo the southern rods. I've painted all my tips white now. But my bnm rods were that way, seemed to break ever time I sneezed around them, but lots of folks use them with really really good luck.

They are great rods but don't think they are any better than the Southerns and not near as tuff. Tip on the Denali may be a little softer but not much. Like both rods but for me it's a tie.

I use both...I buy a spare tip for every B&M rod I use...usually need it during the year.. I have broke 2 Southern rod tips.. Caught one in the rafters of my shed..A fish tangled me in my Terrova, and broke a tip...Southerns customer service is great.

I made an order from ed and paid for 3 rods. He sent me 4 and I offered to pay him back but he wouldn't take payment on em.

What did you paint your tips with.....I'm wanting to repaint mine and not sure about the approach (if it matters).

I used just a spray paint primer, it will knick and peel but I can touch it up. Prob better options like krylon fusion or something

Painted all of my southern rods with rust- oleum glossy white. No peeling so far. Painted my 14 footers last year. Complete rods handle to tip.
