I was wondering what would happen if you were part way through loading it up and it got active. I can't say that I would have done any different. Still a shame on the fish not cooperating.

I been on this kick to try my hand on cooking some "blackened redfish", I've ate some over at friends house before and it was good, but never tried to cook any myself, so, after moving onward from shrimping season I have this drive to get enough fillets to cook up some etc, etc .....

Now, for years I've been going out to Haulover and see dead pigs laying on the side of the road where idiots hit em and just leave em to rot instead of taking them home and butchering them for food etc, etc. Everytime I see one I say silently to myself, "Buddy-Roe' if I ever hit one, he's a coming home with me for sure ! ! ! !

    Well, finally it's happened......
Was going about 50mph headed to HC then I see something out of my right side just in front of the truck, and just like that, within a second, it's a hog, darting out in front of my truck. By the time I hit the brakes I'd already hit it..... BAM ! ! ! ! ! !

I thought to myself, "GOT ONE" ! ! ! ! Tried to turn the truck (with boat) around but not enough turning room, so, just pulled off and walked back with flashlight to inspect it. It was a shoat (gilt) bout 90-100 pounds, I gave it a kick and it appeared to be dead ........
She had clean teats, never been suckled = perfect primo meat ......

So, I got to load this hog up and take her home and butcher her ....
    BUT, I'm going redfishing ! ! ! ! ! And after yesterday, I'm determined to get some redfish ! ! !
Now what do I do ????? Am caught in a quagmire, I must choose, hog or fish ! ! ! !

Long story short, I drug the hog off the road and went on fishing, something I swore over many years I'd never do, even cursing those that I witnessed doing the same.

Got out fishing, saw plenty of fish but, they wouldn't bite my hook ! !
I fretted and fretted all morning long about wasting a perfectly good hog for a "chance" to catch a red ! ! ! ! It just wasn't a good morning at all after that. I figured that if I caught a red right off the bat, I'd still have time to get back and grab the hog and take both home, but didn't happen.

The way I figure it, after all these years of thinking as to what I'd do if I ever hit a hog out there (take em home right away) the good lord finally provided me with opportunity to do just that, and I blew it ! !
Reminds me of the song "Desperado" where the fellow sings, "Many fine things have been put on your plate, but you always want the things you cannot have" .......

Oh, and I was going to stop back by it on the way home and take a picture of it, when I came to the spot = it was gone ! ! !
Don't know what happened. Good lord felt sorry for me so I wouldn't have to live with the memory of it laying dead by the side of the road cooking in the hot sun, rather, possibilities now exist, was it dead, or knocked out, and came to and walked off, or someone came along and picked it up ????

God I feel terrible, wasting that perfectly good hog for a stupid fish (that I didn't catch).
And that's why I feel like the good lord didn't let me catch any fish today ....
I just hope perhaps he won't keep me in the dog house too long for refusing the offering he handed to me this morning ....

Also, broke a spring on the boat trailer = time to replace em both. The truck just got a little cracking down low on the bumper = not a problem ...

And there ya go = the rest of the story ..........................
Funny, I saw a video last week of a group of hunters pulling into a processor and as they started pulling deer out a hog came from under the pile and hopped out the truck and ran off. You likely knocked her out cold. Mighta had a handfull bout half way home.

Huntinslabs may be right, you may have just knocked her out. Don't feel too bad about the hog, she may be fine. One time when bow hunting I shot at a buck nicked a branch with the arrow and just sliced the deer. ( didn't know this at the time) watched as the buck just walked around and then lay down. After an hour it got up and limped off. Got down from my tree stand looked around and there was blood all over the place. Trailed him for a 1/4 mile and the blood stopped. Man did I feel bad............Two weeks later I saw the same deer running a doe. Could see the cut on his side where the arrow skidded along his hide. He was not having any problems at all keeping up with the doe. So don't feel to bad for the piggy, next time just put it in your live-well.
