    Default Needing Expert Advice

I'm looking at possibly buying a 91 bay hawk center console boat. My question is this boat ok for crappie fishing, does it sit to high in the water for spider rig fishing. Any info would be appreciated. I've never owned one so I'm in unfamiliar waters on this.

I'm not familiar with this particular boat but I run an Excel Bay Pro 203 center console with a 140 Suzuki and I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Mine catches some wind but is manageable with a 112 Rip Tide I-pilot.

We got caught a few miles from our launch yesterday in high SE winds. There were honest 6 foot rollers and we got back safe but a bit damp. I'll take the rough water ride of my boat over any I have ever been in.

Bay Hawks were known for soft floors. There were a few on the Alabama coast where we lived that were being used for running crab pots and recreational scale shrimping. The ones that I personally knew of had significant floor work done and where there's floor rot I always worry about the condition of the transom. The ride was typically wet in choppy conditions but they draft well in skinny water. If it was my purchase decision then I would hold out for another bay boat with better quality control. I hate to see folks get into a rig and then have to complete some major work on the hull when they weren't planning on buying it as a restoration project.
