    Default 3/24 & 3/25 Report

Only took a few photos to share so here goes...

Started out at sunrise 3/24 and found it to be a beautiful morning. I thought to myself.....this is gonna be a great day. Not too many boats on the water and the wind was almost nothing (until close to Noon). The PERFECT day....yea, right!

I struggled all morning trying to find biting fish. I moved alot, looking for bait and/or fish. I put jigs out in several places but to no avail. Everywhere I stopped the fish simply wasn't biting even though I was marking fish on the graph. Finally, on the last stop, I found some fish willing to bite. It was a bit slow but I stayed there and beat it out the rest of the morning boating a total of 34 crappie, keeping 15. 30 of them came from the last stop. Stopped at Noon. Water temps where I fished were 60*-61*. All fish caught in water 9'-15' deep.

Today (3/25) I wanted an earlier start so I was the first on the ramp before daylight. Quickly got unloaded and started idling towards the fishing grounds. I had lines in the water right after daylight and immediately started catching fish. A lot of them were smaller fish (6"-10" fish) but atleast this morning I was catching.

    Another beautiful sunrise today...

And as mentioned, lots of action!

Slick waters to begin with and gradual winds that really didn't blow hard until close to Noon. I think the slight ripple on the water actually helped a little bit. I remember now why I prefer fishing week days though.....there's ALOT of IDIOTS on the water on weekends. Seems like wherever youre fishing (and catching) folks want to ride right along aside of you just to see what youre doing.....WIDE OPEN THROTTLE!

Oh well...still a good day of fishing even when you do have to share the lake with the ENTIRE STATE. Kept my limit of 30 fish and threw back 94 fish (caught two more reeling in lines after putting clickers up). Total = 124 crappies.

Fished from daylight until Noon. Water temp started at 63* this morning and pretty much stayed there. Caught fish in anywhere from 4' of water to 12' of water. Livewell shot today...

Thanks scottymoe thanked you for this post

BTW, I haven't cleaned a female fish YET that has laid her eggs. Most of the females today and yesterday are looking more and more like little footballs, getting wider from the eggs getting more mature. From what I saw cleaning them it still aint time for it to happen yet. Close though.

Nice Butch you da man. At least the first day you searched hard and it paid off.

The Man is back on his game. Great job Butch. Glad to hear they are not spawning yet, still plenty of good fishing ahead.
