Boat problems
Just got a call from Performance Marine out by Tommys and here's what the guy told me.
Tank was half full of water. The boats sat from late summer last year until now and SOME could be ethanol separation but it was to much water. He seems to think that since I have an aluminum tank, the top of the tank has gone bad and it allowing water to get in the tank.
The boats only 12 year old and I don't see how that could happen. How would it even get to the top of the tank it it's been sitting with the plug out?

If tank is not full.. ..condensation daily will add up to a lot of water in that length of time

Check your remote fill. The cap should have a 0 ring seal. Some of the caps on those boats sit in a recess and if that seal leaks water will accumulate around cap and seep by the seal. I doubt seriously your tank top is corroded through and even if it was shouldn't be any water standing on top of it. Plus you would be smelling fumes. Check that vent tube also like Mo said but it shouldn't be where water could get in either.

It's at the shop. He looked at the cap like I asked him to do. He said its all good. It was mostly covered. The tarp did dry rot though do some water got on it

Why in the heck would a boat sit that long?Ha. I always put SeaFoam and Stabil in mine before storing but I suppose that wouldn't fix water getting into tank. The condensation makes some sense.

Don Don there is an O ring or gasket on top where the gauge sending unit goes in on top of tank. Also vent fitting and filler Neck fitting. Check them all. That's the only way water can enter from top of tank

I would think there is something other than the tank is your problem as mentioned.
Aluminum last a long time. My mother carried her car to the ford place and they said she needed a complete front end-$3500. Got under there and could not find nothing wrong and asked why she needed a front end? Their response was " Well it has never been replaced." They saw an 85 year old woman and saw $$$.
