Had a great day on Barnett today. Caught lots of fish. turned most of them back especially the big females because I just don't needem. kept me a few to eat whole the way I love them. I'm going to vote to pass a law outlawing the filleting of crappie. they should be fried whole in Crisco if you have it or vegetable oil. Salt pepper and corn meal. Oh my goodness. Make you wanna slap somebody. Lol

I've got rice oil in my cooker now. It's good, but peanut oil next time.

Canola oil..Used to use peanut oil, but you never know who is allergic to it.
I camped over Spring Break and saw something done I had never even thought about but It was fine! My dad and I had caught about 60 fish and I was cleaning them when a friend that was camping beside us came up and asked if he could have a few. I told him he was welcome to all of them if he would just clean me a couple for supper. He got out his catfish skinners and started cleaning crappie like they were channel cat. He skinned them rascals then pulled the top fin out of them and it was beautiful piece of fish and the only bones in it was the rib cage and back. It was phenomenal. Now don't get me wrong, I still love them with the skin on and this method is a lot of work but I will definitely be doing it again for a small frying.
