    Default Whipit knot

Tried a finishing knot by hand (as shown by Skip). I made a mess of it. This is a collar jig, so now the jig has a "ring around the collar" to cover the string mess. The jig actually looks better than the picture. I ain't a photographer by no means.

Thought I would show it off. This is number 8 that I ties so far.

I will get the hang of it eventually.

That'll work! Whip finishing by hand takes a while to get down just keep at it.

I got to meet Dave a few weeks ago at the Atlanta fly fishing show. Super nice guy and incredibly talented tyer, fisherman, and artist.

He's the guy who got me interested in fly fishing. (He also loves UL spin fishing.)

I send Cane Pole a video of the hand whip finish which is about the same thing as this one. I also keep a video of the whip finish on the2 different styles of tools as well. I keep all 3 just in case someone wants me to email them one of these videos. Kind of helps get use to one of these ways to finishing. Of course the Thompson style of whip finish tool is not one jig tyers should be interested IMHO!

If anyone want a video on their computer to watch as many time as they want, just PM me and give me your email address to send it.

Skip's video is simple. I just have no feelings in my fingers. I rely totally on visuals.

    Thanks Skip.

Your welcome and if you ever jump over to a tool, lets talk before you buy one. Also I like using mine and feel it's just as fast as hand finish, plus easier, lol!
