Received a free pass to go fishing, but with winds at 20 gusting to 30 not sure if I should just stay in bed. My brother, nephew and I decided to fish a shallow protected lake south of Orlando. We thought we could find some protection from the wind and devised a plan to fish for green carp first thing in the morning then shift to crappie mid-morning. We were fishing a lake in a WMA and figured if we couldn't catch any fish we will have a nice morning looking for wildlife around the banks. Within 45 minutes we bumped into 2 turkeys and 4 deer walking the banks (Funny how they know when hunting season is over).
Although the conditions made fishing very tough, we managed a very respectable day. After a couple hours of bass fishing we caught and released over a dozen fish, including a couple of monsters. Now it was time to try to catch a few crappie for dinner, within a few minutes we have a double on and immediately lost trolling motor due to bad plug, so headed to the ramp.
Bass were caught on frogs and swimbaits. Crappie longlining roadrunners and jigs. All fish still swimming.

How's the hydrilla in that lake since the treatment I'm pretty sure it's the lake I think it is lol
That is a good one there! I'll be carrying some heavier stuff next trip myself.

Those are some MONSTER shad collectors....would be a catch of a life time for most, thanks for sharing.
crappie down !
Quess'in one was between 9 and 10, other beast was an easy 11 maybe pushing 12. It's a shame they were both laid out and a little poor. Maybe we will find them again after they fatten back up.
