    Default Johnson beetle spin stripes

    Hey guys
I shoot in POP and have been pulling my hair out, trying to simulate the stripes on the body of the bait,
I've watched a but load of vids on youtube, and tried using wire, toothpicks, different spoons, and even razor lade exacto blades to get a small enough streams....
Even if I get an acceptable stripe when the over flash is removed the stripes pull out of the mold...I've tried with the mold cold, warm, and HOT
I can't post pix cuz my phone and nook don't seem to be compatable
Any suggestions would be most appreciated
    Thanks

a little tricky on those the beetle spin I have taken hot plastic on the end of a toothpick or some small and put it in the cavities and then shoot your top color I would have to go to the shop and do this and post on a little bit better for you.

    Thanks Bob!!!
I've been contimplating trying a medical syringe but don't think it would take the heat...Cuz the needle would prolly have to be preheated so the plastic wouldn't plug it immediately?

here is what I come up with in my shop today on your beetle spin using a small syringe I shot a strip of black plastic in the cavity and I reshot the mold using yellow with a lot of practice you could refine that little thin black stream on the back.

    After thought...
If by some act of god I figure it out, I'll post it up...
    Now as DUMB QUESTION..........
I know they don't have people doing this....
But, when I build my hard baits handcarved I use screens, sponges, onion bags, and all kinds of weird stuff to make textures, and definative markings on the baitDo I dare... Maybe........try dipping paper towel in the hot plastic??? OR AM I GOING TOBURST INTO FLAMES???I dunno just tossing that out there

    Bob

Have the same mold and was considering an E-Core shoot
    where you:

    use a body pin

    then clear shoot
open mold pull the body pins
nip off the tails reinstall body
    re-shoot with color

    You have to consider
350* Hot plastic can cause severe burns

using a paper towel with it may be a Bad Idea

Thinking you guys are over thinking this. True the stripes are cool but crappie don't give a crap about them. Make it a laminate and call it a day.
