I have contracted the dread gomboo and will probably be out of action for at least a few days. My wife has had it for over two weeks, and she is just starting to feel almost human again. If you know of a place to catch perch, get some and use the heads first. Then cut pieces when you run out of heads. Same thing with shad. Worms will also work.

Used some half-rotten shad last night, but it worked well. Only got three, but missed a bunch. They were striking hard, and the circle hook was not catching hold. Might have to switch to the L042 or the Team Catfish jackhammer.

Got four last evening and missed four. Was short on bait, and they preferred shad heads, so I had to use chunks. Probably would have done better with more bait, since they hit the heads as soon as I got them out.

Thanks, George. I have some too, but I left them home. I usually don't do as well with frozen shad, and I thought I would be able to get more than just the five that I got yesterday.

I've seen this method used at W.R. Hollway reservoir(Pumpback). They let the balloon float their bait all the way to the dam when GRDA is releasing water into Hudson. When it gets down there they pop the line and the balloon will come off. I've heard of 50 to 80Lb blues being caught.

Theory is that the catfish lay by the screens, when they are pumping or releasing water the bait fish come straight to them. I've talked to a retired Grda police officer and he told me they put a camera down there and the size of those blues are unbelievable.

Went out with son-in-law and grandson for less than two hours. Got two blues and two channels, using crappie heads and chunks. Have heard a lot of talk about the Pumpback being a great blue cat lake, but that's a loooong way from here. Maybe someday.
