    Default Xi5 question about

Just ordered a Xi5 and wondering what kind of electrical plug comes on the unit? I have a older motor guide that I'm removing. A picture would help if anyone can post.

It will not come with a plug. Remove the plug from your old motor and use it.

a lot of them don't come with a plug because there are several different styles of plugs.

I don't think mine came with a plug either, I replaced a Minkota and hard wired it to the same terminal blocks the other Trolling Motor was previously wired to. All I can tell you this is the best purchase ever, love the XI5.

Make sure you have a method of turning off the power to your xi-5 if you hard wire it. The gps will not power down otherwise according to instructions.

I don't think it really matters if you decide to hard wire or use a plug, the most important issue is having the ability to cut power completely off from the motor after use, mine was hard wired but I could go to the rear battery compartment and throw the circuit breaker to stop any power from reaching the motor, other probably use a plug or some other form of a switch. Switch, Circuit Breaker, Hard Wired or Plug, it will work. As others have stated this is to cut off power to the XI5 GPS Unit when not in use.

Ok another question: My boat was wired for a 12/24 volt trolling motor, 50amp breaker installed. I'm installing the Xi5 24volt on the same plug only using the 2 wire 24v side of the 12/24v plug with the same wiring setup on batteries. Will this be a problem?
