I had an enclosed trailer come off my ball today. Crushed my light hook ups, got the jack hung under the bumper, and ripped a hole in the trailer. Make sure you use the right size ball

I went fishing one day last year and when I returned home to disconnect trailer I discovered that I had not pushed the tab down and locked it. I now double check it as I was lucky one time but the next time it could be disaster.

Dang guys sounds rough, glad no one was hurt. This is the reason I don't follow behind trailers going down the roads, never now when an accident will happen due to human or mechanical error. Learned my lesson years ago pulling a 13,000# trailer behind an old E350 van, way overloaded for the vehicle. It was a company vehicle and trailer, me and two other guys hauling butt from Memphis to Batesville doing 75-80mph going to a job, I noticed the trailer was pulling oddly and didn't think any thing of it. We got to the job site and as we were entering the building going up a ramp the trailer hit with a thud and broke both safety chains off the welds on trailer. What happened was the hollow shank hitch had split on all three sides (top and two sides) the only thing holding it was the bottom section of metal on one of 4 sides. If this would have happened on I-55 I have no doubt someone would have been seriously injured or killed. Now I only use solid shank hitches and inspect my frame hitch regularly and also my ball, tongue receiver. safety chains etc.. and always make sure everything is locked down tight. Accidents will always happen, but we can try our best to eliminate them.
