    Default Transducer problems.

I got a new boat. Had the dealer install the humminbird electronics. Helix mega 9 SI G2N. Got it out on the water today to start breaking in the motor. While I was at idle we play with the Helix. Here is the problem. The mechanic installed the SI transducer in the wrong spot and the motor lower unit is blocking the beam going to the left. What can I tell them to do to make it right. They screwed it up and they are going to fix it. Just need to know what to do. It is on a Lund impact 1875.

You will have to trim your motor up so that it is not in line with transducer as you are not going to be running very fast side and down imaging and it will not affect regular sonar anyway . A lot of people have to do this as the transducers are blocked by the motor being close to the boat and the transducers being so long. Some people use jack plates to get more room between transducers and motors also.

In addition to the info scrat mentions above... there is also the option of using the dual SI xducer setup with the AS MSILR Y Cable for the Mega units ...

Rickie, so you are saying that I could mount an additional SI transducer on the other side then use that cable connection to be able to see both sides without having to tilt the motor. The reason I asked is that when we tilted the motor yesterday we were having problems with prop wash blurring the image on the Helix. Does that make sense.

Correct ... With the AS MSILR Y Cable ...:

*Right SI, 2d, and Temperature would come from the starboard mounted SI xducer ...
*Left SI would come from the port mounted SI xducer ...

The disadvantage is cost ...of the AS MSILR Y Cable and a 2nd Mega xducer ...
