Lots of factors controlled by mother nature, not so much by man. A crappie is a Crappie east to west and north to south. I don't think they live any longer in one region or another. I am not sure yet if the stunted fish being placed in a different body of water will make them grow larger, I think if they have been stunted long enough it might be in there genes to remain small. Interesting thoughts by all in any case.

Lot of talk about catch and release, nothing taste better then crappie dropped in hot grease. But you can only eat so much and if you fish as much as most of us retired people that is a lot of crappie even if you don't limit out. I don't want to clean over fifteen at one time. To my question which size fish are the most fertile to release.
You want to "fix" it. Contact your local DNR and ask them how you can help? If your not helping, your part of the problem.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!
All states have DNR's that have fisheries biologists that study these questions. They should make the decisions on the individual lakes by biological findings. We all have our own observations and while valid may not apply to the overall health of all waters ie..Northern waters vs. Southern waters. As long as, and this is the hard part, we let them do their job and don't let politics get in the way the Crappie will win and so will the fishermen and women.
