    Default Lots of boats.....sardis

Took a scenic tour driving around Sardis today. Counted about 35 boats on the lake looking out from the dam. Fished an hour or so from the bank and caught a few white bass. Can't say that I saw the first Crappie caught but I'm sure among that crowd a few had to have been caught. I don't see any bragging pics yet though!

I'd rather do without the pics. #1 I'm stuck in office all week, #2 look at what a tourist attraction pics have made lake Washington! Ha. It's bumper boats and there all dragging them out by bushel sack load! It's starting to get nice and quiet around here

A few years back you could post a picture of your catch, tell what waters you were on, be the only boat out there. The next day you couldn't get close to the spot you fished. There for a while all catches came from Lake X. Or someone post a big fish, a limit from lake X and all the lakes were covered with boats. If you went you maybe the only c.c member out there.

There won't be very many pics coming from Sardis. Don't get me wrong there is fish in there and sometimes you will get a nice mess of fish. There numbers are low on keeper size.

Heard the same about Sardis last year. But seen a lot of big fish limits come out of there. Seen a limit of a Husband and wife. They averaged over 2 lbs per fish, and both had caught a limit each day they fished there. And Mike told me they had caught over 100 fish on the slow days. But they can limit out when most can't catch 15 per boat.
I learned a long time ago. Not to post pics and brag about what I catch. Its nice when everyone things a lake is dead. And you can fish half a day and never have a boat in the way. Had a guy back around Christmas ask me why I had not been bragging about the fish I had been catching. Told him I did not do any good.

There are some hogs in Sardis for sure. These last couple springs it's been high waters and those big fish have been scattered therefore they have gotten bigger. With that said I only caught like 7 keepers last April for the entire month. If somebody caught 100 crappie in one day last year then they had dynamite. Me and the wife pulled up a couple nice catches last summer and a little in the fall. Waiting to see what this spring brings. Still got hopes up. But my guess is Enid and Grenada is where I will spend my weekends. Sardis during the weekdays.

Well, I fished it for 6 hours Sunday in probably the best weather I've ever had a chance to fish and caught absolutely ZERO. Not even a nip. I saw maybe about 8 fish caught among all the boats. I jig fish only and not really into drifting open water and suspect if anyone's going to catch a few, they best have a minnow on the hook. It was just to pretty a day to sit at home plus I wanted to get my boat out of cover and run a while. I tried putting in at holiday but decided against it. Low and trailer tire fell off end of ramp. Couple other boats made it out but slow going. I didn't want to stress it.

I've been fishing it 45 years and I hope another 45. Good years and bad years, but even a good year these days, no where close to the way it used to be. But I guess that could be said about a lot of things. I used to catch 50 a day by lunch.

Saw one of the guides leaving when I was putting in. It was pretty windy at that time but calmed day to slick within the hour. I figured they probably didn't catch much leaving at 11am. But then again, maybe they had the limit. I didn't bother to ask.

Sure was a beautiful day to be out. Even got a little sun. No fish but I wouldn't trade it. Happy and fortunate to be able to do what I love.

It was very nice. I drove out to Indian mound to check it out and saw some bank fishermen. Not much action while I was there. The Corp has totally destroyed the gravel road to get to the mound. They said they would be back in January to fix it.
