    Default Lake Murray - Visiting

Hello everyone, long time reader, first time poster. I don't own a boat so that is why you have not seen a post from me before. I'll be down at Lake Murray this weekend visiting. I'll have access to a boat and am thinking about trying for crappie. If I have my directions correct, I'll be just west of the northern most 391 bridge. Is this a good area for crappie this time of year or should I think of making a run? Any tips would be appreciated but I think as long as I am in the ballpark, I'll have a chance.

    Thanks in advance.

You will be in a great area for crappie this time of year. Fish are being caught in creeks all over the lake and around docks and bridges as well. Fishing the river channels in the area you described will produce fish too. Good luck

I like this section for early bass fishing. How deep you think the crappie will be in the big mans marina area and the river channels by Monday. You think they will make a move shallow by then?

I think you should find fish from the backs of the creeks all the way out to the river right now. They should be scattered with some fish making the move and some getting ready to

Thank you for the response. I'll have a bucket of minnows for the slip bobbers and plan on trying jigs but have never been successful with those. I just wanted to make sure I was in a portion of the lake if I make the right decisions, could be productive. I'll search for some structure and fish holding and if they bite, that'll be great. Otherwise, at least it is not work and I know where I can get some beverages.

Sry, another question. Did I read the SC regulations right that if all persons in the boat are legally able to fish (licensed or younger than 16), you can use unlimited number of poles? Otherwise 2 per legally able fisherman?

Pole amount from a boat is unlimited in SC from my understanding.

Everyone over 16 in the boat must have a license if you're gonna fish with more than two poles.

    Everyone,

Thank you for your posts and info. I unfortunately do not have a report for you. We never got on the water. It looks like some sort of electrical issue as there was no power anywhere in the boat. Battery was good and basic trouble shooting got us nowhere. Again, thanks for the advice though.
