Default First trip to Wateree 02/11/2017

Took the kids down Saturday morning. Son had state track meet in Winston so he didn't get home till 0130. Got a late start and arrived at 1045. Lake has a deep stain color and Wateree creek is a mud factory. Temps were 52-53.5 depending on where I was. Fished the mouth of wateree for the first hour with no luck. Saw a few crappie boats in mouth on Taylor creek on the way up. Decided to fish around the bridge a while. Finally got one bite and caught 1 9" fish. Marked a good many fish in that area but no bites. Tightlined the whole day along with vertical jigging when I saw a school on the graph. Moved the last couple hours into Dutchman creek. Marked fish around the bridge in that area as well but still no bites. Very ,very windy with not much fish action. Plan to fish greenwood again this coming Sunday and Monday. Hoping things are better. Hopefully some of yall caught them this wkd

it was a tough day, I just posted my fishing recap in the moderated forums for wateree yesterday. I could only find crappie in one place that was shielded by the wind and boat control was still an issue. I fished the lower end and the water was still pretty muddy limiting visibility.

Moderated forum is still a mystery place for me. Evidently I will have to be a member for 25 days first. By then , I assume they will be biting bare hooks! lol
