Trolling motor wires

Anybody know what all I will need to extend my trolling motor wires from the front of the boat to a battery in the back of the boat? I have a brand new 12 volt ipilot link and needing to hook it up this week but want to be able to hook it up to the battery in the back of the boat and remove the battery up front

#8 or #10 wire should be ok.

Tinned marine grade 8 or maybe 6 gauge wire both black and red. I'd put a TM plug up front if you can so you can quick disconnect it instead of hard wiring it direct. I would also buy a good circuit breaker for the + connection AT the battery. Buy some good gold plated ring terminals also for the battery and the breaker.

If you won't ever use it in salt water, the regular copper wire will be fine.

One more thing, I use multi stranded oxygen free copper wiring if you use regular copper. It's automotive grade and is very flexible. It's what you use in car audio systems. Oxygen free Cooper doesn't have the resistance that regular wire has so you get a better current flow through it. It makes a big difference in 12v DC systems.

House wiring is stiff single strand wire but you're pushing 120v plus through it. Don't use that.

Instead of paying 3 bucks a ft for tinned marine grade 6 guage wire....i am not running in salt warer so dont need the marine grade. I go to Harbor Freight buy a cheap set of 6 guage jumper cables the length you want,......cut the clamps of the ends and use the wire. I crimp and solder 5/16 ring connectors in one end and put trolling motor receptical on othe end. Dont forget to get a circuit breaker.

I would buy a 60 amp breaker. You can get auto grade wire at any car audio store either bulk or in an amp kit. The amp kit will have a big fuse holder instead of a circuit breaker. Not sure how long a run you need, but 8 gauge is less money and will probably work fine with a 24v TM. You can both sides, motor side (male) and boat side (female) of a TM plug anywhere.
