    Default CLARKS HILL WEDNESDAY

Jim and I ventured from our comfort zone (Lake Oconee) and took a road trip to Clarks Hill. We fished an area that we had fished last April when the water was about 10 feet higher. The fish were in the channel but the channel which is normally 20 feet deep ranged from 9-12 deep and it made the fishing a bit more challenging. The bite was very good from the start and the quality of fish was excellent also. Jim pushed 8 rods and pulled 4 rods out of the front of the boat and I pulled 4 rods out of the rear of the boat. Catching the fish was the easy part. Staying in the channel was the hard part. As usual our trip wasn't without incident. We managed to get fishing line in the trolling motor 3 different times and had to stop and take the prop off each time to get the line out. I also caused us to crash into the shore while trying to net two fish and steer the trolling motor at the same time (we have had issues with trolling motors over the past few days). Anyway, in spite of our ineptitude, we manged to keep 47 very nice fish. The fish were suspended from 3 feet to the bottom. Dark colors seemed to work the best particularly blue/black/char. curly tails. The water was stained and the water temperature was 55-57 degrees. We only saw two other boats all day. It was a great day.
