    Default Beautiful day on Murray

I joined Don on his boat today starting out from his dock. We long lined out into Rocky Creek trying to coax a Crappie into the boat. We got further back into the creek and a nice Striper hit one of Don's jig and a lengthy battle ensued. Somehow he managed to work that fish around and through numerous lines and we netted him. He weighed 6# and gave Don quite a workout.
We ran across to Hollow Creek and fished there until 12:30. I picked up a Striper on my ultral light on a 1/32 oz jig. Of all the rods to hit, that one took me forever to land, then he wasn't big enough to keep!
We did pick up 3 nice Crappie and must have gone through a scool of perch as Don had 3 on at one time.
We were able to get both Stripers and all the others in the boat without tangling......except one tiny perch. That small perch managed to tangle about 5 of Don's line before we could get him out of the water. The largest crappie weighed 1.75 # and the other two were about 1.5#.
Absolutely beautiful day to be on the water with no wind for most of the morning.

You can see how tiny the jig is relative to the fish. It's a 1/32 oz replica of a HalFly I used years ago Stumphunter tied up a batch for me.

Nice Ray. I caught a 7 lb. striper at Wateree a couple of years ago on a zebco ultralight with 6 lb. line. By myself, it was quite a fight for 15 minutes. 77 tomorrow and 76 Wednesday. A pretty nice February so far.

How is the water color down in Rocky Creek? It's still pretty muddy up here.
You can't catch fish from the couch.

The water color is clear down this far. Tons of bait and stripers in Rocky creek. Going to try again Friday don't know just yet where I am going.

Ray, fishing any day is better than working. I was working and it hurt so bad to be in such great weather. Did manage to get one rod and reel being tossed. Five footer with reel and price tag still on it. LOL Glad you and Don made it out and had a great time. Thanks for the report and pictures. P.S. Don, I got my foot pedal back and I've given it away again. Thanks Guys!
