Default Larto 2017 Gathering pt 1

Well the 2017 Larto gathering has come and gone and a great time was had by all. We caught LOTS of fish but not a ton of keepers but enough to feed everyone Saturday and everyone got to bring some home. Here are the pictures.
Anyone remember this guy?! (Slab Hunter)

    Cyberwolf with a nice one

Deacon contributing to our catch Saturday with a nice one.

Skippa Chippa with Spot. Spot was telling him where to fish!

    Cyberwolf and Chloee

    BamaFan and Garrett

    Jlaughlin and his son Matthew

Man this event is really going to the dogs! But in a good way!

Me with a couple of nice ones

The man, the myth, the LEGEND! Beaubayou! Bruce, we sure do ENJOY your shore lunches for us!!!

BamaFan's wife, Mrs. Cindy and Oldyankee trying to hide by the post! lol

Several pictures from Saturday nights fish fry. A special THANKS to Jlaughlin's wife Julie for helping me out with the pictures!

    Pt. 2
A special thanks to the chefs Deacon and BamaFan and to everyone that brought something to this to make it a successful gathering! THANKS!!!

Almost didn't get to the food for pictures before it was gone!

And now for some fish pictures!
I caught a "racing" crappie, don't remember catching one of these at Larto before.

And for a bonus, can anyone that wasn't at the event tell me what is wrong with this fish?!

    Here is a hint!

Looks like he's missing a side fin. Sorry I missed the outing, but I had a conflict. I did get to go Friday. I met skippa chippa and spot and another cdc member. Forgot his name. Anyway, my partner and me didn't catch much at all. came back with 4 and we should have thrown 3 of those back. Fishing shiners at youngbloods. But don't go by that. Everybody else was catching fish all around us. And this 1 guy was fishing 4 jigs on two poles. He was catching 1 after another right by us. After seeing that picture of Slab Hunter, I think it was him. And he was catching some nice ones. Gonna have to pm him and see if that was him. Looks like yall had a great time. Maybe next year.

Yea, that was probably Slab Hunter but don't be disappointed if he doesn't respond, he hasn't been on here in a LONG time. He is the one that taught me everything I know about this type of fishing. I fish 2 rods with 4 jigs on each just like he does. He always seems to catch big fish but he has been fishing that lake for YEARS! And yes that is what was wrong with that fish, he must have been swimming in circles! lol

Sounds like it was alot of fun. Would have liked to have been there fishing, but was on call for work. Heading there this weekend to the camp with the wife and little man. Were the fish starting to move into the shallows or are they still deep?

There are still plenty of fish deep and there are fish in 12 fow also. The only issue with the 12 fow is you will get hung up alot more. I did see a guy pitching a cork and jig about 3' under it into the edges of the brush and doing pretty well. So they are really scattered all over now but if the weather stays warm all week, I would suggest trying shallow.
