I run a 240 SeaArk and use a 60 and sometimes 2- 60s to slow myself down. On Reelfoot due to the stumps I also use chains. I have 2 chains about 5ft. long and attached to 50ft of rope. Let out enough rope to get the speed you want. Hope this helps.

Any help on slowing drift? I have. Ranger 518 with a 48" drift sick. Sometimes with winds over 10 it is still to fast on downwind. Have heard of people using multiple sock and also chains. Any advice.

When I fish Lk's Michigan and Erie, I use 2 drift socks tied down to the forward cleats,
one attached to each side of the boat, but I use a 15hp kicker instead of my main engine.
Don't fish enough water like Reelfoot to have any experience with chains.

I used two different sets yesterday in my Ranger 521c. With 15-20 mph wind gusts, the 66" set took me down to .5-.7. With the 78" set I cruised along at .3 average. I was going 1.2 average without them.
