for bank busting, the plastics you described are all good...add in a junebug and you won't miss many. However, plastics are not always the answer. Sometimes, the fish want the jig slow/still. At these times, you need some hair/feather jigs in your arsenal. Some of my favorite Stumphunter jig colors are: black/silver/chartreuse, red/yellow, orange/chartreuse & clark hill shiner. Maybe he can chime in and show some pics of his jigs...

Can you cast them?

I like to use a small weighted cork varying 12"-24" above the hair jig. Cast, pause, jiggle, pause, & reel....cast, jiggle, reel, pause, raise rod and pause, reel slack, & repeat. The fish will let you know if they prefer it still, moving slowly, or moving constantly. Some people in other circles refer to this technique as the "float & fly" technique. It can be deadly efficient when the crappie are densely congregated on brush or the bank.

1.5" tube under a small pegged float. Black/chartreuse on cloudy days, chartreuse on sunny days. Drop it on their face and they slam it, usually arent too excited about chasing when they are spawning.

Have you tried the "stinger" type plastics with this technique? I would think they might also work. I have not tried them exactly with that method but have had luck just casting and let them fall plus vertical jigging with them sitting still and just slight movement every once in while.
On the OP's question about color, it depends on amount of stain in the water for me. I love that Junebug color when it is slightly stained. I go to lighter colors if it is clear. I have been having luck lately with a pink bodied jig and chartreuse tail. I heard someone say one time that any color works as long as it is chartreuse.
