Hey John I think the chirp is just to catch fishermen. I just bought a garmin 9 in chirp 93sv with side scan and down scan 750.00 from the garmin factory store. You should check them out and see if they still have them and I will guarantee you want regret it.

Chirp is GREAT for finding bottom dwelling fish and very deep floating nets
