    Default Tips for Henderson?

I'm a new guy to Henderson and generally new to fishing for White Perch outside of yo-yoing. Not looking for honey holes or anything, but can anyone give me some pointers on how to fish the area? Bait/jigs to use? Is night fishing allowed? Thanks in advance.

Sorry that I can't help you with the area, but I live north of Alexandria. However, I did want to welcome you to the best crappie fishing forum in the country, maybe even the world. There are plenty of folks who fish that area who will be chiming in shortly; I am sure of it.

I'm actually from Pineville, but spend a lot of time in Baton Rouge.

But this board definitely looks very promising can't wait to learn and put some fish in the ice chest!

Glad to be a part of this!

Welcome to CDC. I'm pretty sure night fishing is allowed, but I would personally have to have a good feel for the stumps first. The best time to see the peek a boo stumps is when the Pelba gage is around 7'. Right now a lot of them are under water by varying amounts.

Welcome from Natchitoches doc. I can't help you out in Henderson but I was born and raised in Alexandria and Kincaid Lake was my playground growing up.

First I would go to Academy and get a "Standard Mapping Service" satellite photo of Henderson....get familiar with all the spots labeled on the map.....learn the boat lanes....I use shiners but hair jigs and plastics are used also....common plastics are Southern Pro blue & white and black & chartreuse.....Bobby Garland jigs are good also....

I live 15 minutes from Henderson and fish it when I'm on call for work, but I still call Saline/Larto my home lake which is where I have my camp and where I grew up. If you have a facebook page, Henderson Fishing Reports is a page for Henderson and the people there are very helpful. Usually have posts daily on what's being caught, what their being caught on, area, and how deep. Check it out if you have access to it. All you have to do is join group and you will probably be accepted by the end of the day.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

jfsiki: Thanks for the tip about the Facebook page. I grew up close to your home.

prefers shiners: I prefer live bait when fishing too. Hard to beat the real thing. Thanks for the tip about the map.
