Always keep the shiners stocked!
The last few days fishing from the dock have been slow. Friday night I caught 8, took last night off, had a family movie night.
Tonight I decided to bait the lines since I had a few shiners left. Didn't buy more shiners because I wasn't expecting to fish much. BAM! 13 slabs in less than an hour. Zero shiners left. Oh well I got a little mess and get to get to sleep early tonight.
The brush is definitely making a difference, however I don't think I'm making my neighbors very happy as our catch differential is getting quite lopsided.
with the water warming I'm expecting the fishing to pick up next week.
to add some value to the report, the reports from the stephensville area have been poor. Clean water in the back of the Union Oil canals, but not many fish being caught. Some nice bream being caught on jigs tipped with worm. The lakes, bayou cheramie, Sherman, Christmas tree canals all really muddy. Water temp today 61 degrees.

Couldn't leave em biting so I tied on a jig. Caught a few more. Ended up catching 18 total. I think I'll let it rest during the week and work on some more brush. I figure if I keep sinking brush I might get lucky enough to have one of Andrews' "bad" days.

this is all correct, it has been very poor last 2 times i went out there, went friday VERY Crowded. water churned up with all the rain. most of the back water in the union is crystal clear which is also debatable. went pickup 3 trees off the side of the road and plan to make some habitats back there in very disclosed locations.

Nice catch. Glad to hear that your brush is working. Congratulations!

Mike, you've only learned part of the lesson. Here's the entire lesson: 1. The less minners you have, the faster the fish will bite. 2. The more minners you buy, the less the fish will bite. A corollary: You can fish for three hours without a bite. Then just as you absolutely MUST leave or be late for work, the fish will turn on like crazy. The next day, your friends will tell you all about how each guy got a limit of slabs right after you left.
