The story of the frying skillet goes back several months. I went to my grandson's birthday party and fried fish for about 25 people that day. My son-in-law had a fish fryer made from an old disc blade off of an old farm disc. A welder had closed up the hole where the disc blade fits onto the spindle and then ground everything smooth. Man oh man. I have never fried fish in anything like that before. Well, I bragged on it to my son-in-law. He has been working in Pennsylvania for about 4 years now and had bought one up there somewhere that they use at the shop from time to time to cook in. It also, I have been told, makes great stir-fry and fajitas.
When they went back up there, after my grandson's birthday in September, my son-in-law came home one day and told my daughter, Sarah Beth, that he had taken care of my Christmas present and showed her my new fish fryer. It is made from 1/8 inch mild steel, which has been stamped out and run through a press to give it its shape. It is just like a big wok, but is flat enough on the bottom to sit on a fish fryer. It is one of the best fish fryers I have ever used and believe me, I have used a lot of different ones. I can't wait for the opportunity to cook fajitas in it.
