keep my hds gen2 8 and hds gen2T in a 1660 pelican case....expensive but when I have them in there I know they are safe. Keep them inside right next to my computer, no humidity with the tight seal.

That's a great looking case. I keep my Helix 5 in a $5 Harbor Freight plastic ammo case in my locked storage building with the rest of my gear. If I kept it in the house separate I would almost certainly forget it on occasional fishing trips lol.

Buy a new boat with all the finest accessories. Then buy a new truck to tow the cool new boat. With the cool new boat and truck, build a nice detached garage. Store truck, boat with installed electronic's in new detached garage

Okay, if that doesn't work, all those above have provided some great recommendations. Good luck.

Ya'll are making me feel like a "cheapskate"

My Lowrance Elite 5DSI unit is stored in a drawstring bag (the one that Jersey Knit sheet sets comes in), then placed in another bag (the one that Frogg Toggs comes in) along with my rainsuit / towel / sungloves & faceshield / and a set of jumper cables ... and that bag is stored in the top of a 5gal bucket, where I keep loose items that I take but don't store in the boat. And the bucket & Wal-mart bags serves as a emergency portapotty !! The "bucket" rides in the back seat of my Tundra, to and from the lake.

Don't worry. Mine normally goes on the back seat to and from the ramp. I don't have a new boat or new truck or fancy pelican case. Albeit, some have shared some great ideas.

I store mine in the compartments of my boat with the screen cover on and placed on towels/extra clothing/life jackets for cushining when fishing locally. For long distances I use a older style hard sided suit case for storing 3 hds 10 and 1 hds 8. I then place a pillow on top of the units to fill the void area. Never any issues.
