Thread: Transducer repair

When I got my Xi5 I didn't want the transducer on it so, after seeing it on Nip's boat, I ordered this. Inexpensive and works great. You can mount any type transducer, even sidevu, as the transducer doesn't rotate with the trolling motor.

Upon closer inspection, it doesn't appear to be broken. The jacket has been sliced down to the inner cable but still intact. Now I'm wondering if immersion in the water caused the goofy readings, and all I need to do is tape and waterproof.

sounds reasonable to me to fix it.

Be anxious to see if you can fix,,, I know what your talking about with the electric steer motors, I ran and still have the v2 that I use when rigging and chasing the striped fish. I have a loop at the top for slack that is bunged so it can pull down as the turning head needs more cable. used it that way for three years no problems,

I repaired a cut cable on mine. Chewing gum wrapper makes for a decent insulator. I since replaced the repaired ducer and cable but have it as a spare because it still works.

You might as well replace it. Otherwise it's going to let you down, at the most inopportune time!!

Floyd had so much interference with the I-Pilot and transducer I decided to give the transducer pole a try. I have to say this thing is neater than a pocket on a shirt. I got the sub-plate and the base plate since I fish heavy cover so if I hit one hard the main plate held by the break away screws will save my down pole and transducer. These guys put a lot of thought into this. Before with the transducer on trolling motor, the structure scan would totally black out when I hit the trolling motor button now it's crystal clear. I mounted it on the opposite side of the bow from the trolling motor. This is a great product if you are running an I Pilot or XI-5 without the built-in transducer.
