Bill, it's an old fly fisherman's trick. Just grab each side of the rod at the joint behind your knees and squat. It will work most of the time.

old fly fisher showed me to rub the ferrule along the side of your nose when you put them together. oil from the sebaceous glands lube them. used the knee trick lots of times too.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

After trying freezing rod joints- no luck, heating rod joints- no luck, and trying the squating with rod behind your knees- this did free up 2 stuck joints- then tried WD40- no luck and then had to wash oil off the rods, I tried the method shown on the link below.
This worked fairly easily and un-stuck all the remaining stuck rod sections .... I would try this first if you ever have some get stuck.
