You know that ole crappie house has been there since like for ever .....and I heard tales of a day back when , seems since the lake is full back when is there once again ....lol

Yes sir we have quite a few around Dfw set up similar and in the winter some are pretty fun spots till the word gets out

We have several kinds in the Dfw area ....some are private kinda open boat slips you pay by the month , some are pay by the day closed in houses , some are pay by the year ....they ketch some nice crappie at some spots as well ....seen lots of fish this year over 2 lbs in several locations that are public pay fishing.....one spot even set a new lake record .....5 to 10 bux a day on the pay by the day spots and typically 50 To a 100 a month for the private boat slips .....beats taking a boat out quite often in the winter for sure .....

You are sure getting into different kinda fishing and not having to be out in boat getting cold and beat up by the waves. Way to go Ketchn!

Only problem here in winter, even if someone had boat docks to rent out for fishing then, they go deep if we have a real winter. Don't know if you ever heard of the "Chicken Coop" here on Toledo Bend, but it's famous all over the country and has been for many years! That place is why they use to have the limits change from November through February until a couple years back when all changed. Use to in them months you had to keep what you caught no matter how small the crappie was. It's a spot where the river come hard into the Texas Bank and make a bend North. So many boats it's crazy when good and why I never have gone there! They usually are fishing 40 feet down and where hot everyone is limiting out! Last year don't think it was all that good, but this year January is starting out cold and if this keeps up that place will be rocking, just without me, lol! Soon in a month or a little longer they will leave that place and any other deep haunts here and come to my stomping grounds so I just wait.

Use to have a 50 crappie per person with a 10" Minimum except in the months I spoke of and then no minimum and still 50 per person per day. Now it's 25 with no minimum length and that is all year which I am not fond of. 25 for me is fine, but would prefer that 10" minimum would come back!
