Left one interesting shot out--good luck if any of you can figure out how to catch a crappie in this area!! There are some in the shot, but there is just so much bait around that my few minnows and jigs didn't attract much attention.

I posted an article on my face book page about interpreting what you see on your screen. This is what the author called "wall to wall carpeting". When bait and preditor are stacked up like this the bite will be for the most part nonexistent and best to move to a new area.

Good advice--this is exactly what happened to us. Our few little minnows didn't stand a chance with all this bait around.

Yes, good advice. However, I have always been told that the predator can and will pick out the most vulnerable bait in it's strick zone area.........such as the minnow acting injured (dragging the hook around). One of my fishing buddies called me yesterday while on the water with this same scenario screen full of bait and fish with only one Crappie. I guess that's what makes it so interesting and keeps us all trying to figure it out. Anybody ever figure it all out, let us know. Good info JL and RB. Ain't it fun?%$#@*&^

I fished the same condition last week and the only bites I got were on tiny jigs tipped with minnows. I think the jigs made the difference by exciting the crappie.

Have you tried live Shad? Sure looks like they would be easy to catch.
