Default Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 12/13/2016

I had my wife drop me off in the lake around noon or so and I fished a roadbed nearby until Dr Phillip Gawthrop could get there. I fished alone for about an hour before he got loose and was able to get to the ramp. While I was waiting on him, I caught 6 yellow bass and one 3 lb drum. I can't go fishing without catching one of my pets. Grin.

Then I moved to an off shore spot that had brush and started catching crappie. My phone rang as I was reeling in the 3rd keeper in about as many casts. It was Phil. I told him that I was catching keepers and he said that he would be to the ramp in about 10-15 minutes. So, I stayed put for 10 more minutes, in the mean time catching 7 more keepers before I left the fish to go pick up Phil.

Then we moved to another spot where we finished off the first limit including a nice 14.5" TARP black crappie. Then we moved to my original spot where I had left the fish biting. It took us 50 minutes to get the 2nd limit. We fished a while longer, catching about 5 more keeper fish (released) and had about 8 shorties. We had very little wind and a misty rain shower from time to time. Water temp was 51.9 when we quit at 3:30 PM. I kept the yellow bass and Phil kept the crappie. He has a fish fry coming up soon and he didn't have any fish at all. This is a good start for him.

All our fish were caught on Bass Assassin Pro Tiny Shads in the 2" version. Limetreuse Glow mostly, but I did catch a few on Bluegrass Dappers and one on a S&P Phantom/chartreuse tail. Great baits. The fish were in about 8 feet of water around brush. I only lost one jig and Phil lost one.

How much for that dogie in the boat? That's a pretty Lab, I sure do miss mine. Excellent report as always DK. I'm going to be off for a week after the 20th. I have to get some fishing in hopefully a whole week of
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6
