I make most of my jigs and I have some colors that I have a lot of confidence in. When I'm hard pressed to get a bite I throw Bobby garlands blue ice. Blue ice seems to work everywhere.

Also it depends on the time of year. Pre.spawn I'm throwing black and chartreuse or green and chartreuse tubes. Later spring and summer I throw all kinds of jigs. Fall it's all marabou jigs green and white, blue and chartreuse. But we put way to much into color most of the time they will hit any color so just use what you have confidence in.

I have found that most lures with blue in them work on all the Coosa River lakes most of the time. While fishing Neely Henry Friday I caught all fish on minnows while having jigs on also right beside them.

Does anybody remember the old color selectors? They had a probe that you dropped down to your depth and the pointer thing pointed to the best color based on how much light was getting to the probe. I always thought those were a good idea

Just my 2 cents, but I start with a 1/16oz White Marabou if the water is clear, Chartreuse if visibility is under 12 inches or so. I have a box full of different color Bobby Garlands, but since I'm always moving I usually don't spend a lot of time refining colors for what they want that day like when your tied under a bridge. I'm looking for the active fish and moving on. I think I could get a limit most days with a selection of two jigs and two lures.

    1/16oz White Marabou
    1/16oz Chartreuse Marabou
1/32oz spinner with a 1" White twister tail
1/32oz spinner with a 1" Yellow twister tail
