Thread: Which size engel bait cooler to get?

If you got the room get the 30. They all work good but the bigger the better.

Basically the 13 can keep 1 pound of minnows, the 19 can hold 2 pounds and the 30 can hold 3 pounds for a day or two. Keep a close eye on them and replace some of the water if needed.

I've got the 30 qt. I keep 2 lbs in it and keep the water changed and add a little ice as needed. I use mine as well for the weigh in line.

I know it depends on the size, but how many average size minnows in a pound? I never bought that many.

Bigger the better. Have a 19 and wish I bought the 30 for the yak for striper fishing to hold the bluebacks. They are like Yeti coolers. Will keep water cool for hours in the middle of summer.

Anderson Minnow Farm advertises Fathead Minnows @ 1lb of med minnows (2.25") = 167 minnows (approx 14doz).

The 19 works best with my 861 War Eagle Predator. I've had it for several years and us it for spider rigging....

1000 ea #6 (medium) minnows weighs 6 lbs. Divide 6 into 1000 and you get the number of minnows per pound. #4s are small (4 lbs per 1000) 1 lb of 4s equals 250 ea. You can only use this with any accuracy if the minnows have been graded to size. A lot
of the minnows I buy today are poorly graded. The best option here is to take the guy at the bait shop a mess of fish once and a
while.
