Default Chattahoochee River/Lake Seminole Report: 21 November

The wife and I set out from Enterprise at 0600 yesterday morning for Trail's End Marina on the Chattahoochee. The day before, made sure all jigs were tied/retied, gas in the boat, snacks and water packed..etc.

This was to be more than a fishing trip. We have only had the boat 10 days and wanted to get out on bigger water to see how it would do. The weather was great - sunny and mid 60's.

What it turned out to be was a learning experience. Current and stiff wind make pushing and pulling jigs a bit more difficult for the newbie. We donated several jigs to the river over the course of the day and my trolling ate two itself

I had some intel from a GA CDC member that fishes the lake a lot. He shared some of the areas he has had recent success which we heeded. We fished tree tops and brush piles in the channel of the Hooch using 1/8 ounce jigs. I put out 6 poles in the front and the wife put 6 out back. Even with "heavy" jigs, the current and wind made it difficult to get the baits down where the fish seemed to be per my HB.

We didn't land a crappie - I had a decent looking fish to the boat that shook the jig, and we caught two small striped bass. Still had a great day spending time with the wife on the water. I have a few pics I'll post later this evening.

It'll take a couple of days like that just to learn your new rig. After awhile, even the bad weather won't stop you because you've learned how to handle it.

Any day on the water is a good day especially if you learn something
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.

Let's see here. Trip with the Family. New boat. Fishing. Learning new waters. Losing a few jigs. Learning new techniques. Sunny day in the 60's. Sounds like a good day to me:-) As long as you had fun, then it was a total success! Hope you get on them in the next day or two. Enjoy.

It was a good time - both of us enjoyed the day on the water and our new ride. The crappie probably enjoyed watching us too

When did you attend at Carlisle?
