It will be interesting to see if people really get the kind of detail we have seen in these demo shots. I keep thinking about the difference between 455 and 800. Yeah you get more detail with 800, but its not like a different picture just a little crisper.

It seems like the new transducer may be the star of the show, dedicated DI and all.

Dedicated DI in the same SI housing is most likely the number one wish list item HB users have asked for ever since Lowrance released LSS 1 SI/DI in Nov 2010 ...

    *2005 HB releases SI ...
    *2010 November Lowrance releases SI/DI ...
*2011 January HB releases blended DI in software update ...
*2011 ~November HB releases dedicated DI units ...

Surely we'll see some legal bickering over this one....

I run 360/2D alot.I really like that combo. But I'm not sure how a helix would handle that combo.which unit are you running your 360 on?

I'm curious also. From the pictires that I'm seeing on internet.Scanning different frequencies doesn't seem like it's making any difference. Just seems to me that,DSP,better processor, with the ability to send more energy out into the water along with higher frequencies is what's making the difference. Fixed or scanning same results. (Anyone got any thoughts on this)

If I had one of these units.first thing I would do.Would be to scan out as far as I could, with fixed frequency ,then scan again with all channels sweeping to compare. (Not really sure that I could find anything interesting to scan tho)

1200kHz vs 800kHz should show increased detail as similar to 800kHz vs 455kHz ...

CHIRP in itself will help with signal to noise ratio of the returning sound pulse ... this lower noise ratio allows more energy to be put into the water ... which will collect more data (detail) - with less noise - at increased range ...

The Mega SI is advertised at 125ft ... this would indicate the 1200kHz CHIRP sweep frequency to get that much range with that high a frequency ...

I would venture to guess fixed frequency 1200kHz might have an effective SI Range of 60-90ft ... I'm sure we will eventually see images at 1200kHz fixed if these Mega units allow adjusting the sweep to a single frequency like the present HELIX 12 CHIRP or ONIX CHIRP ...

And of course new processing will help all the factors involved ...

Here's shots of what appears to be the same bridge. The range is set different.one shot appears to be fixed frequency and the other is set to sweep 100 frequencies....

    Default MEGA IMAGING

Need opinions. Do you feel the 2" screen size difference of the 10 to the 12 is worth the price difference? I have a 898 with 7" screen so both are an upgrade.

That's a very good example of how much difference the range setting makes.
