Default Country Gospel Sunday In The South

That's the name of a music CD I picked up in a garage sale for a quarter.....these are the songs on it....if you remember these you are an "old timer"....maybe a "geezer" also....I grew up on these....when I was a small kid I remember my Mom singing these while she was working around the house....

Some of my old favorites are "The Lighthouse" and "I wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now" by "The Happy Goodmans", and don't forget The Cathedrals....The Hinson's and many more...

    I'LL FLY AWAY......Jim Reeves
    CRYING IN THE CHAPEL.....Eddy Arnold
    WINGS OF A DOVE.....Dolly Parton
HIDE ME, ROCK OF AGES.....The Speer Family
    SWING DOWN CHARIOT.......Blackwood Brothers Quartet
WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN.......Chet Atkins
    STAND BY ME...........The Statesmen Quartet
WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS.....Roy Rogers and Dale Evans
OLD TIME RELIGION......The Johnson Family Singers
    I BELIEVE......Sons Of The Pioneers
    The "King" is coming
    This could be the Day....

I know all of the songs. Grew up listening to most of them. Never heard Roy Rogers and Dale Evans sing "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" though. Does that make me an Old Geezer?

Not everyone has the chance to be there at the Right Time,,,, But I was there - - My Mother Worked At the Paper Mill In Monroe ... One of her Co Workers was A Gospel D J At KLIC Radio Station ---- Gordon Greer Had a Show on Saturday mornings called The Gospel Hit Paraide -- The fellow that had helped him went in the Service at Early Viet Nam .... I Got to replace Him For a couple of Years Helping Mr Greer ,,Bring Gospel Quartets to this Area for Concerts .... Put Promotion Fliers on Cars in Parking Lots, Posting on Store Fronts ,,, Passing stuff out at Intersections and Being on the Radio every Saturday Morning ---- Best Memories were getting on the Buss with Them and The Personal Stories of The Passion of their Music ---- The Statesmen -- The Blackwoods -- The Jr. Blackwoods -- The Rambos -- The Le- Fevears --- The Oak Ridge Boys came to Monroe several times and went on Live in the Studio Being Backstage was something to Remember ---- I always Had Stage Fright when they Brought us on Stage to Introduce the Group and Thank the Crowd for coming

    Bruce, I remember those songs.
I fish 7 days a week; some days for fish, everyday for men.
