I'm with you bandchaser. Im just excited to have the opportunity to fish one of the best crappie state in the country. Like I said before, im not looking for anyone's honey hole or out to hurt your fishery. If i get on some nice fish and have a shot at a trophy.... well that sounds like a good vacation in my book.

Fireman...sounds like the right attitude to me...come on down, and have a good time...let me know if I can help you. As far as traveling....I'm the guy that booked three days on a Red Ear trip to Ky Lake !!! I have no problems with OOSers....As long as everyone follows the regulations.....I would say fish all you want...Everyone is some part of the problem if you take fish from the lake...It is not against the law to turn all fish you catch back.....Most people won't do it..If we truly want trophy fish...turn them back, and let them grow.. At 67, I just want to have a few to eat, and be physically able to go and feel the thump

Knightshadow, the true problem and I have seen this with my own eyes right here at home, is that our own locals violate the minimum length rule because they feel it's their lake and they are owed something. And they will not get caught.
Also, you can return big fish back if you want, but return the egg filled momma's in the spring. Any other time, keep the bigger fish and return the smaller keepers and of course the short fish, these fish have a longer life than the bigger fish and will see the next spawn! People don't understand that one aspect, and came from a biologist.

In my opinion it's not a local problem or OOsers one. It's an attitude issue. Some don't think that they had a good day of fishing if they don't have a limit at the end of the day and I have seen local and out of state guys keep what looks like short fish or go over there limit just so they can brag about how good they done. They have lost sight of what fishing should be. For me I enjoy going to a new lake and put the pieces together and see if I can figure them out. Some of my best days of fishing did not end with a box full of fish but with the knowledge of that I learned and the memories that was made that day. You can put all the size limits you want but it's is almost impossible to stop the law breakers. As for the 5 under rule I like it for the fact that if I gill hook a short I don't have to throw it back in and let it die.

We can all agree to disagree on several different approaches. But the resounding story line is that we all have seen or know of "fisherman" breaking the legal length law. When do we get involved, or not, is the question. When is the states going to start writing tickets?

Sounds like you have a very lenient state. I for one have learned my lesson... while fishing on my home lake " lake of the ozarks" I have been popped twice. Water patrol will stop you, hop in your boat, go through your live well and measure EVERY fish. You better have an exact 15 fish and they better be bigger than 9", or your bill fold is gonna empty out quickly. As for keeping shorts... why? Other than a fish that will definitely, there's no reason fiddle with something that is going to fillet out the to the size of a potatoe chip. Plus not worth the risk in my boat

My personal opinion is if they break the law...that is the same as stealing. They are taking more than their share of the resource...if you are going to bitch about them doing that...then you need to be willing to report the violation, and then do what is necessary to help mr. GreenJeans get a conviction ...they cannot do the job by themselves. Laws are made to be followed....turning your back..not getting involved....you are condoning what they do..

Yep and you better not be driving 56 in a 55 either, if I wanted to be a game warden I would have been one and frankly I just don't worry about what anyone else does. In his boat what goes on is his business just like in mine it's my business and I will tell you to mind your own in a heartbeat. To each their own, if you feel compelled to call the law call em but what goes around comes around, might better not try no "rolling stop" on the way home.

I love to fish Louisiana, especially the marsh. I love to fish the Mississippi big 4. I love to fish Arkansas, especially the lower
White River bottoms. I live in Arkansas, I abide by the law, I pay my money, I treat people the way I would like to be treated and I don't give a rats behind what who thinks.
    Tell'em I'll be there.
