Default Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 11/18/2016

I had another good fishing day alone before winter hits this weekend. At least that is what the weatherman is saying and he never lies. JK LOL

I moved around to different spots today and had success at just about every stop. Only one or two places that did not yield a fish. I took home 11 crappie, 11 yellow bass, and 1 eating size Blue catfish. I caught another channel catfish under a dock, but I don't eat those things, so back into the water he went.

Calm wind for most of the day today. Water temp when I finished was 66.6 degrees. I caught fish in brush mostly, but did catch one good keeper off a bluff. A couple more nice keepers came from docks. I only had two short crappie today. I am liking the keeper size to throwback ratio that is going on right now.

I saw my friend Bassert and his lovely wife, Susan out there today. They came motoring up to my first stop this AM. They just wanted to watch, but I didn't show them anything. LOL After a few minutes, Pat asked if it was okay if they fish with me and I said sure. They caught a couple of yellow bass and 1 keeper crappie. I caught several yellow bass in that spot as well and a nice crappie. They were at the end of the morning for themselves, so they bid me adieu and moved on.

After I moved on from that spot, I saw a red tracker boat in an area of a brushpile that I located last year that usually yields good crappie. I eased by them when I realized that they were about 30 yards from the brush, spoke to them as I went by. It was a Father and Son from Atlanta. I marked the brush with a buoy and started catching fish right away. After they saw me catch the 3rd one, the Father told me that they were from Atlanta and were just getting into this fishing thing again and wanted a little help. I asked him what size jig heads he was using and he said 1/4 oz. I told him that that was too heavy for 10 feet of water. I offered 1/16 jigs to him and he eased over to my boat and I gave them a handful of 1/16 oz jigs with red cycle hooks. And I gave them a package of Bass Assassin Pro Tiny 2" Shads in a good color. I told them where the brush was and invited them to fish it with me from the other side of the marker. They were gracious and thanked me, but they didn't get close enough to reach the brush. I finally told them that I was leaving and showed them exactly where the brush was and went on to find fish in other brush in the area. I hope that they caught some fish.

I only took 3 pics today, but I had a livewell full of fish to clean. I'll get to that after my nap. Us old timers need a nap in the afternoon. LOL

Dickey is that talented and I believe he can catch crappie while standing on his head and possibly even juggle at the same time !

I'll be glad when all this Thanksgiving hubub is over. All this planning and cooking is taking up my water time! Good job as always DK.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
