Glad you were able to get out. Sorry about the prop. Seems water is really low everywhere. I'm seeing structure normally in the water at low pool that is high and dry. I'm thinking we need to find someone that knows how to do a rain dance.

Started out almost getting hit in my buddy's brand new Ranger 188 boat by a vehicle who was tailgating us much too close. Launched at the ramp close to the dam and was shocked at the lake level - down about 5+ feet. Didn't do any good at Bay Springs so we left there for Yellow Creek and proceeded to hit the prop on a high spot at the center of the mouth. Managed to catch only two (threw everything in the tackle box) while there. On the way out, we managed to hit the high spot again doing some damage to the prop. Other than that, it was a great day to be on the water. Note to self - don't go back to Weiss until the water comes up.
PS - Hard to shoot docks when they are high and dry.

Fishing is a privilege...catching is a bonus. Enjoy each precious moment we have to experience our great outdoors!
Hate hearing about your misfortune. Good lake maps on your GPS will help you stay in the channels but even with them it is difficult on Weiss. The guides are catching lots of fish up there right now fishing the river channel ledges.

Wow, sorry to hear about the prop issues. Those fish have got to be bunched up somewhere.
Glad you guys didn't have something much worse happen. Years ago, I know a guy that tore his outboard off running wide open on a Texas lake. He introduced an expensive piece of fish structure.
My thoughts exactly, low water should bunch them up "somewhere", but apparently we weren't in the right "somewhere".
get on river ledges and find some cover. You should catch some but be real careful out there!
Coach,
Thanks for the intel. If we go back down there anytime soon, we'll try that method. My bud is kinda gun shy right now about tearing up a new prop - we may fish Guntersville for a while, although we both really like Weiss.
If you want to come back in the near future let me know. If you come on weekend you can follow me and maybe you want hit anything. I live on the lake and don't remember seeing it this low at this time of the year. Hopefully we will get some rain. I won't be going next week. I'm out of school for thanksgiving break and headed to Louisiana Speckled trout and red fishing
Weiss is my favorite Crappie lake, my Uncle, God rest his soul used to take me down there every weekend. I know about the low water, it's dangerous even during full pool. I will say when I do get back down there I'm glad I'll have my Lakemaster card with lake offset set to -5'. That will take some of the guess work out of it.
