    Default Belews Lake 11-15-16

Fished Belews Lake today. It was 37 degrees when I left the house but warmed up and I had to come out of the insulated underware. I had one of the best days that I have ever had fishing this lake. I caught 91 crappie, 20+ white perch. 5 channel catfish, 4 largemouth, and 1 yellow perch. I knew before I left the house where I wanted to fish and had already set my split shot for that depth. As I threw out the 6th rod, rod #1 went off. Winding him in and 2 other rods went off. Two of the fish were over 3/4 lb. I had a smile on my face. The quality of the fish today was very good for this lake. I threw back a lot of 3/4 lb fish which seldom happens here. Water temp was 54 degrees and light wind made longline trolling easy for a change. The catfish and larger white perch crossed lines as usual and made tangles. Fish were still shallow. Most caught in 12 ft of water. Kept 5 ranging from 3/4lb to 1 1/4 lb. Cleaned them and hit the grease in less than one hour. Very good! The leaf color made for a beautiful day on the water. Only saw one other boat all day in the area of the lake I was fishing.

Nice job Rick. Sounds like you had a busy day. Took my boat to Troutman today for its first full service. Water looked good today when I crossed it......almost slick. Very nice day to be out on it.

It was a very nice day to be on the water. Being able to pick the best day to fish is the upside to being retired. The downside is that it then takes me two days to recuperate.

I know what you mean, Rick on the recovery time. Actually, I ice my catch down and clean them the next day (most of the time) and spread it out. For some reason it takes longer now than it use to.

    Rick YOU'RE KILLIN ME!

I was actually home all day today (less than 500 yards from you in that 1st pic....I live on Marion Point in that little subdivision on the hill just past the bridge).....I was there not because I had the day off but because I was looking over a plumbers shoulder all morning and then on conference calls all afternoon looking out the window staring at the lake wishin I was out there. I'm GLAD I didn't know you were out there b/c I darn sure woulda had heartache then. Actually if I'd known you were out there I mighta cranked up the boat from the dock and rode over to see you.

You are killing me. Ever since the hurricane hit I have been slammed at work as a crop insurance adjuster. Passed by Belews Monday on my way to Rockingham County. Was all around Falls Lake today and passed several people fishing on private ponds and I will not be caught up until at least January. Still enjoy all the pictures of yall that are fortunate enough to get to go fishing.
