    Default Hook size and weight

While I still use them, I have moved away from the classic Capps and Coleman style with the weight between my two and fish mostly with a Kentucky Lake style rig with the weight on the very bottom. I have tried every size hook. But mostly run size 1 or size 1/0. What hook size and style are most of you guys using? I ask what style as well because as you know a size 8 wide gap drop shot hook can be as big as size 1 aberdeen and so on. Thanks. Planning to pass the time in the treestand by replenishing my supply of crappie rigs.

Also how many weights sizes do you run? I rarely change much from 1/2 ounce anymore, whereas I used to run 1 oz for real deep, 3/4 for deep, and 3/8 for shallow.

I'm pretty much a 3/4 oz weight and 1/0 Aberdeen guy, most all the time. spring I will down size my weight to 1/2 oz or just a single 1/4 oz jig.

If it's calm I want 1/4 ounce Capps/Coleman rig. On the bottom bouncer rig I call it. " weight on bottom" my go to rig! It allows me to change weight and baits easy. Only inline knots but have a fresh spool. 3/4 oz spot on if you know alittle wind coming. Crappie don't care where the weight is! 1/0 hook aberdeen great choice👍

1/0 Eagle Claw red sickle with 5/8 weight. I never change. I do use gnats tipped with minnows in the fall but it has
    the same set up.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

    Default Hook size and weight

I just ordered 50 packs of the Tru Turn gold 1/0 and red 1's. When I'm not using a Minner Critter (which I do 90% of the time), I use plain Tru Turn hooks sometimes with a tube on them. I also use pony heads.

I use either 1/2, 1, or 3 oz. weights depending on how I'm fishing.

Wow. Survey says I am running a little light on weight it appears. One thing I learned that really helped when I fish up here, especially in lakes with a lot brush like say Truman is going to the Kentucky bottom bounce style and eliminating the 3 way swivel or loop knot trailer up top. At the big four there are more stumps than limbs so snagging is way less and for that I love the upper trailer because it gives more action and the fish grab it with less instant resistance. But in limby lakes you will go thru them like water no pun intended. For those lakes I go with double drop shot setups with the weight on bottom. Much less snaggy. At lease for me.
