    Default I found em

Right where I left em last week. Now I didn't find the kicker fish I had last week, but I believe my big 5 would have been better. But let me start at the beginning......

The wife looks at me about 6am and says "I thought you were going fishing today"? So I looked at her with a frown and said "it's cold out there!" She wasn't buying it. Seems that in recent years she has seen me leave the house looking like Nanook of the North to fulfill a desire to fish for 3 hours and come home cold to the core. Boat already hooked and the stuff in the house waiting by the door, I dragged my lazy, coffee drinking self up and got moving. Stopped in Debary for an Everything bagel, toasted with butter, and made it to the ramp and moved out just before 8am. Them's bankers hours!!

As I got out of the little cove the ramp sits in, I was greeted by a lot of color looking at me from under the bridge. Lots of clouds were high in the sky and the temps made me glad that I had put on a sweatshirt. Cleared the bridge and it was time to GO!! Got near where I had done so well last week and went right back to business. First fish was good, and went in the box, but the second fish woke me up fast by slapping rods together and acting like a genuine catfish. Just under 14" and 1lb 6oz. Now that's the way to start a day. Saw Harold had made the trip again, and I think it might have been O'Currans bid me a good morning. Boats were busy all around me, trolling here and drifting there. Now the drifters were challenged today. Seems the wind never got wound up and completely went on break several times leaving a glassy surface everywhere. Geezer Breezes. And on a weekend. Seldom happens. I just kept toolin around and dropping fish in the livewell.

Time got on past 10 and the bite slowed some, but the good fish just kept coming. The beads on the counter said that I had my limit, but it wasn't time to go yet. I dipped the net into the livewell and began throwing back 11" plus fish back so I could fish a while longer and put some of these better fish back in their place. Some dinks began showing up letting me know that the years to come had plenty of stock to work with. Somewhere after 1130 they just got stubborn. I had other things to do and had already had a great morning, so reluctantly I wrapped up and headed for the ramp. Last weekend my best 5 were 7lbs and 9oz. I believe the best 5 that I had today would have surpassed that but I never took the scale out after the second fish I spoke of earlier. I know the bucket with all 15, yes I counted better today, would have been heavier. 8 of the fish I had today were right at or over 13" with 2 just under 14, but not there. 43 total last week and 34 today. The daughter and SIL and a friend from work split these fish and 2 families got to have Dinner on this old fat guy. Jeff said in his post that he has it bad now, I fully understand.

Sorry to be so late posting this as I had other commitments. I had hoped to get done early enough to give those going Sunday a heads up on what worked for me today. Without going into too much detail, I'll say that the lighter colors worked well early and til the sun came out. There was one bait that did well all day and gave up several large fish------Roadrunner. Small and large. Put some in your spread and you wont regret it.

No fish pictures today but some pretty sunrise pictures and a friend of Flycaster that I found hitch hiking. He wasn't much on conversation but he did wander out and say hi from time to time. I had to remind myself to watch the rods as the sky was pretty enough to be a distraction. I hope everyone going Sunday has as good a time as I had today. Safety will be easier with the wind down, and boat control a snap. I'll be thinking of you all, better have a sharp fillet knife waiting. Thanks for taking the time to read this and visiting with me today.......Skeet.

I find one or two every time that I go to the lake.
Sometimes I see them on the boat as I am going home, the wind blows them off after a while. I have seen them hang on while going 50 MPH.

Flycaster has them identified as Anoles. Most just call them lizards and around here they are everywhere. If you read his post about the livewell pump out problem, you will know as much as most of us about them. Cool little fellers.

I saw you go by headed in yesterday and whistled but your motor is as loud as mine. I just had such a relaxing time and the fish cooperated and so on that I just wasn't ready to chase you down. Glad you had a good time and the wind laid down for us.
