Same thing for me John. Every 3 years like clockwork. The previous owner ran a 24volt Terrova, so he used 2 batteries. I just replaced my old MK to a 12V 55lb Terrova and want to have the 2 batteries for long days on the water.

You can just connect the charger wires to one batt, no need to do it the way your are talking about, think about it, if it will discharge in parrelel it will charge the same.

my War Eagle has 2 sets of wires running from TM to back of boat, for 2 batteries. But when I connect 2 batteries to TM, I still have one go dead and the other one is good. So I think something may be wrong with the 2 battery setup. Can I just get a set of jumper wires and connect the 2nd battery to the 1st?

I guess I should hook it up like the top photo. Question: what kind of "jumper" wire do I need to get? And won't it blow a fuse when I hook up the wires to 2 different batteries?

if you're still running a 12 volt TM use the bottom diagram the top one is 24 volt. You can use any short battery cable from Auto Zone or any parts house

Hi Tony, Do you need a second battery or want one? If the first reason, by all means go for it understanding what all have said above regarding weight, space etc. I originally thought about a second battery for my war eagle. Found I can use a dual-purpose all day for cranking and trolling (minn kota 45 edge), and running electronics. Come home and battery is still 85-90%. Decided I didn't need one, especially the additional weight and giving up extra space.

Do not use the top diagram for a 12V troller. That is for 24V only. But you can run 12V equipment off one of the batteries. How's that for confusing you?

    24v for 12v is non-positive

You have the old style wiring harnes for wiring up the old style 12-24 volt trolling motors. On the harness pick 2 wires making one negative and the other positive. You don't have to pull the other 2 but dummy the ends so they don't get mixed. Then If your running a 12 volt, wire like bottom diagram with troller wires connected to positive and negative of one battery then use heavy battery cables to jump positive to positive and negative to negative of second battery.one leg of a onboard charger will charge both batteries. This is how I have my Wareagle set up. Make sure you wire plug on troller to match wires on female boat plug. Then if running a newer 24 wire it the same way but at batteries use the first diagram.
