Default Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 11/09/2016

With Wednesday being one of the 7 days of the week that I will fish, I thought that I would share a short report today. At first, I wasn't even going to go this morning with winds out of the north and already double digit mph, but, poor judgment over came all that pessimism and I had my beautiful wife launch me from Tyner Lane ramp just before the morning Solunar feeding period elapsed. Grin.

I hit the blow down that yielded those keepers yesterday and I managed to catch about 3 more there, despite the white capping waves buffeting my boat as this area was fully exposed to the north wind. It was chilly too. I added the only other keeper off a dock at the very end of the feeding period, and after that, I fished several spots and even went into Wolftever creek to get out of the wind and see if I could rustle up a fish or two in there. But, no luck. Found fish in brush, but they were no biters. Just lost several jigs to the brush.

I only took one pic as all the fish were about the same. Between 11 and 12 inches long. I kept them for dinner tonight. Wanda was happy. The only bad thing, besides the N wind blowing and white capping the lake, was I broke my favorite crappie rod. I'm taking it back to Cabelas. I think that they will replace it. They better anyway.

I caught the fish on Bass Assassin Pro Tiny florscence Glow 2" on a hot orange 1/16 oz jig head. Water temps today were 68.1 in Waconda Bay and 65.1 in Wolftever creek. I'm probably going to fish tomorrow for the final time this week. Don't know yet whether it will be for crappie or if we try to get a pulse on the Striped Bass and Walleyes below the dam.

Sounds like a great dinner was enjoyed. Sorry about the rod. Hope they replace it for you.
Life is good. Fishing is better.
