Default Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 11/08/2016

After finishing all my chores for today, I decided to hit the water this afternoon for a very short foray with the intent of locating and catching crappie. I fished from 3 until 5 PM. I landed 8 keeper crappie and 4 short crappie. No other species wanted to bite a crappie jig today. Grin. I did have one fish break my line, but I think that I had a bad loop knot.

I fished with Bass Assassin Pro Tiny 2" Shads and caught keepers on florescence glow, Chicken on a Chain, and Lime Green. Best was the florescence glow, but I did throw it much more than the others, so there may not have been much color difference today.

The fish were caught on blowdowns near my launching place. I stayed very close to the ramp today, not venturing more than a 1/2 mile at the most. I didn't have enough time to run all over the lake today. Grin. My technique was to cast near a blowdown and count down to about 4 and then start a slow steady retrieve and it seemed to work just fine. The fish were up and I caught 5 keepers on the first tree. I went on to a bluff and caught two more keepers, checked a couple more places nearby and came back to the first tree and caught one more keeper and a short crappie.

Then I called my wife to bring the truck back to the ramp and let me load up. Sure was nice out there today.

    Good deal DK
I was using that same chartreusey color on a crappie dawg bait and they killed it better than my other colors too

Thanks DK for the report, I'm probably going to take a friend of mine out Thursday the 10th. She is having double knee surgery on the 22th. and she has been screaming she wants to go fishing before she is laid up for months of rehab. This will help. My last trip out I went with a friend and caught those trashy green fish.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6
